♫ When is the Best Time To Start Taking Music Lessons? ♫
The best time is right after you acquire your piano! If you already have your piano, well, you're half way there.
The best time for an Adult is:
1. Right after the holidays. Let's face it, it's cold, dark, and miserable outside. What better way to enjoy yourself at home than by being able to play an instrument?
2. In the Spring. When the days start to get longer, it may be a little easier to make a pit stop at a piano lesson on your way home from work.
3. After you become an "Empty Nester". This not only applies to when your children move out, but should you loose your spouse due to death or divorce. Playing music (that means playing an instrument - not your Ipod!) releases endorphin like no other activity can. The hours spent alone will cease to exist . Music increases serotonin levels as well. Ask any active musician and you'll know what I mean. An instrument is the best form of inanimate companionship. And a piano requires less care than a dog!
4. At the start of the summer. Yes, we associate summer with outdoor activities. However, with the longer daylight hours, it's easier to make that extra stop after work. Also, there are days that are so hot you'd rather be indoors with your piano and air conditioning!
5. Upon Retirement. If you're already retired from work, it's never too late. You know that line, "Use it or loose it?" Well, this applies to your BRAIN! Sure, doing Crossword puzzles is great. But it's hardly a new skill that you're acquiring. And studies have proved that learning an instrument (among other activities) is of even greater benefit.
6. In the fall. The days are getting rapidly shorter. And it's getting rapidly colder! Plan now for something to do at home during those cold winter days. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to play your favorite Carols in time for Christmas?
And the best times for your Child are...
1. Upon Completion of the school year. What a wonderful thing to give them a new, exciting pastime for their summer vacation. And, (according to proven studies) your child will do better in school when the fall semester begins than if they weren't studying piano during summer vacation.
2. Any time during the school year, especially right after exams.
3. Upon graduation. Don't let the skill of learning come to a halt! Keep them in the practice of learning a new skill, and this will benefit them the rest of their lives.
